0:00 Hi, Katie. Great, so So we'll kind of, we'll just go ahead and get started here. My name is Sam Nyland. I am the Product Marketing Manager here at Neon, I will be your host today. So for those in attendance, maybe I'm assuming this is not your first GX session as we are midday through on day two. But if it is, I'm just going to point a few things out about the platform, you will see the chat area to your right. Please go ahead and throughout the presentation, ask questions. We do have folks here including myself to answer any of those, you can also enter in any questions within the q&a functionality of the platform as well. And then please go ahead and mute yourselves, it seems like most of you have, we do not have the capability to mass mute everybody. But if you do have questions at the end of this, we can actually open it up for q&a, to have more verbal discussion. Or if you feel more comfortable, please go ahead and enter that into the chat. But without further ado, I'm going to go ahead and introduce our presenters today. So we're here at the Neon Pay overview and roadmap session, called protect your organization. And our presenters are Nicole Shoaf. She is the product owner of Neon Pay. And she'll be presenting and actually walking through the slide deck today. And then we have Colin Pizarek, who is our VP of Product Development with us. So I'm just going to hand it over now to you too, if you just want to go and go ahead and give just kind of a general brief introductions, and I'll let you take the stage. 1:48 Awesome. Thanks, Sam. Yes, so my name is Nicole. And as Sam mentioned, I'm the Neon Pay product owner, which means I work with the Neon Pay development team to plan and create new features for the platform. 2:06 And I'm Colin Pizarek, I am the VP of Product Development, which means that I generally work with all of our development teams at Neon One to coordinate the the technical development and maintenance and support of our products, of which Neon Pay is a critical shared component that is used across every every part of Neon One's ecosystem. So I'm here today mostly to help answer questions and have really excited for what Nicole is going to be sharing with all of you today. So I'm going to kick it back over to Nicole. And let's get started. 2:43 All right. So today, here's an overview of what we'll be talking about. First, we'll start off with Neon Pay, and just what it is, then we'll move into a highlight of some of the key features for the product. After that, we'll start talking about an upcoming PCI compliance program. And then just before we wrap up, I will give you a sneak peek of our upcoming product roadmap. So first, let's start with what is Neon Pay. Neon Pay is a single source payment processor. And when we say Neon single source, what we mean is that Neon Pay provides you everything you need to receive payments from your constituents. We accept all major credit cards, ACH and echeck. And if you attended Generosity Xchange last year, you'll notice that as of this year, we also support Apple Pay and Google Pay. Neon Pay is an extension of the entire Neon One ecosystem, which means you can do all of your payment management from payouts, disputes and refunds in the same platform that you're already using for everything else. It's also a secure level one PCI compliance service. And I'll go into PCI more later when we talk about our upcoming PCI compliance program. But what this means for you is that all of our payments are tokenized in our bank and card information are not stored in the app. This means we maintain the highest level of regulatory compliance. And lastly, Neon Pay is a seamless integration to your other applications, meaning that your supporters will have a seamless checkout experience. Alright, let's get into the features. Neon Pay is designed around efficiency. Payments can be tricky, difficult. We want to make the process of managing them as frictionless as possible so that you can spend less time balancing your books and more time with your organization. We've connected Neon One applications to Neon Pay to make it easier to see the details of your payments. For example, in CRM, you can directly jump from a charge to Neon Pay to see more details about that charge. From Neon Pay, you can also jump back to other applications through drop down menus. If you've ever spent time trying to hunt down a charge and another payment processing portal, then you'll appreciate how easy it is to jump back and forth through the Neon One applications. Moving into payouts Neon Pay offers three different payout schedules from daily weekly or monthly so that you can choose the payout schedule that works best for your organization. You can also set up multiple bank accounts to direct funds based on a campaign or other criteria. Reconciliation comm becomes a lot easier with Neon Pay payouts because we include a transactions table that breaks down every charge fee dispute and so on that could make up or that could affect the payout in the system. We also will send you an email when your payout succeeds, so that you never miss a payout. And you can directly download the report from the email. We've made a lot of reports over the past or we've made a lot of improvement to reports over the past year. And most of these have been directly from feedback from you all. So we thank you for all the feedback that you've provided in this area. On the topic of reporting, we also offer detailed charge reporting and beyond paid. You can view charge information on a table in a report or on a detail page. The charge table offers several commonly referenced columns, like the payment method, the card type, and even the description. So you can see this charge down here was for tickets to an event, while this one is a donation. And of course we include the charge status. This table can be directly exported to CSV or Excel. Or if you're looking for more columns and more customization, you can run a full charge report. We also give you a detailed view of every transaction. So if you follow the hyperlink from the charge table, you can find more information about the charge. We provide a breakdown of the fees a timeline that the charge underwent all the information you need to follow the charge every step of the way. So here in the summary, you can see the description when it was created. Moving down the page, you can find charge alerts like when we check the billing address information, and a breakdown of each fee applied to the charge. And then at the very bottom, you'll find the timeline from when the charge was created and authorized to any refunds applied to it. And as you can see, you can also apply a partial or full refund on the charge from this page. Alright, let's move on to a less fun but very important topic, which is risk monitoring. As we all know accepting online payments always carry some level of risk to your organization. But at Neon Pay, we manage that risk for you through a number of systems that we have in place. On a transaction by transaction level, we automatically assigned a risk score to each transaction based on a number of risk factors. This allows our team to flag high risk transactions and review those manually. We also monitor changes to important details on your organization's bank account, and send you an email anytime your bank account information changes. This way we can ensure that your organization created this change. We also detect and block card testing attacks by using firewalls. As we know that card testing attacks can become more sophisticated each year. Finally, our goal is to be secure by design. So we use modern encryption end to end and tokenize all of our payments. We don't store any sensitive information in the application. Ultimately, most of these protections are invisible to your organization. Because we don't believe you Should have to be an expert in fraud and security. We apply our expertise in our experience in this area to help your organization stay safe. Which also brings us to an upcoming program that we're offering through Neon Pay, which is PCI compliance. PCI compliance can be a confusing landscape to navigate. So this program will help you maintain compliance with ease. But first, I want to give some background on what PCI compliance actually is. PCI DSS stands for the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard. It's an effort from all major credit card issuers to ensure a standard of security for their card holders. So basically, the DSS is a list of rules designed to reduce the risk of a data breach. Every organization that accepts credit card transactions must be compliant with the with the PCI DSS and the level of compliance will depend on your transaction volume. So while Neon Pay, for example, is level one compliant, every organization that uses me on they still must demonstrate their own compliance, and the level of required may differ. To help you maintain your PCI compliance, we've partnered with secure trust to offer a free PCI compliance program. This free signup will save your organization about $300 just for being a Neon Pay customer. And that's just for signing up for secure trust. That's not even to say how much another program or vendor would cost. By signing up through this program, you'll be provided with training resources, and 24/7 support to understand PCI compliance and keep you and your donors safe. This will help you improve your transaction security and reduce your risk of a data breach. Signing up as simple as well. I do want to reiterate that this is still coming soon. But once it launches, you'll be able to enroll two different ways. As you onboard board a new merchant and Neon Pay, you'll be able to enroll in the program there. Or if your merchant already exists, then you can enroll under the new PCI compliance tab in the Neon One portal. Once you enroll, you'll designate a PCI contact, and that contact will gain access to the secure trust portal. That enrollment automatically creates a business profile for you insecure trust. And that contact will be responsible for helping the organization go through the enrollment process. So you'll want them to be someone who's familiar with your payment processing. After you create the business profile, secure choice will guide you through an approved security vendor scan over everywhere that you accept payments. So that includes your Neon One donation page, a Shopify page, anywhere that you accept a payment. After this scan, you'll complete a self assessment questionnaire and an added station of compliance. Along the way throughout this scan and both of these forms, you'll have access to resources with secure trust and PCI experts to make sure that you meet compliance standards and answer any questions that you have. Basically, signing up in this program will save you time and money to keep you and your donors safe. So just to summarize, because I know that was a lot of information. What is PCI compliance? It's a set of standard regulations to protect credit card holders. And PCI compliance indicates an adherence to the standard. Who needs to do it everyone that accepts credit card transactions and who does this program benefit. It'll benefit organizations on familiar with PCI compliance by providing you support and tools to understand it and become compliant. And if you're already involved in a PCI compliance program, this will offer you a free and streamlined process to maintain that compliance. Alright, let's jump into a sneak peek of the future ideas for Neon Pay. So all of these ideas will be subject to change and I would love to get any feedback from you all on the ideas I share today. First up we have recurring transactions when bank information like an expiration date changes it currently break schedule of a recurring credit card transaction. By automatically pulling this information, we can ensure there's not a delay or break for these transactions, meaning less manual investigation for your organization, and no break and receiving the funds that you're expecting. As we all know, ACH transactions take a very long time to process, so we're hoping to decline them faster. And by doing this will allow you to understand when to expect your payments and what payments to expect. We also want to offer you the opportunity to hone in on the notifications most important to you from the unpaid. Some emails will not be optional. For example, if your organization's bank account changes, we want to make sure we're still notifying you for security reasons. But for new emails, like for example, if we were to create a notification every time a new charge is generated, that's not going to be beneficial to every user at every organization, although it may be beneficial to others. So we're going to offer a way to manage your email notifications user by user and organization by organization. Lastly, and this is a big one. But we're looking at enabling Neon Pay for Canada. Of course, this will be a holistic effort across all of the Neon One ecosystem. But specifically for pay. It means offering Neon Pay in Canadian currency and to Canadian bank accounts, which will allow our Canadian customers to fully leverage the system without so many manual conversions and manual work behind the scenes. As always, we would love to hear from you. In any Neon One application, you can find a link to our suggestions portal, where you can leave ideas you have for each product that you have access to. I would encourage you to leave any feedback over these features that I've shared today, or anything that I've not covered. But of course, we'll also open up to questions. I've included a QR code to participate in our session survey. Otherwise, I'd like to turn it over to you to hear any questions that you will have. 17:50 Taking a look at the chat here. Nicole, thanks. So you covered it very, very well. So I'm just if anybody has any questions, feel free to throw those in the chat. The q&a is also open for discussion. And this is a good time any everybody because we do have Colin here was very well versed All right. Yeah, we I mean, we have the open floor. So even if it's not Neon Pay, if anybody has questions directly related to PCI compliance, what are you know a little bit more in detail about what that program entails? Feel free to ask. All right, so we're not getting any any chats or anything of that sort. Um, we do have, you know, about 20 or so 15-20 minutes left. Colin, is there anything you wanted to add just about Neon Pay in general, perhaps any of the the future state or anything that you wanted to add to the conversation? 19:23 Oh, you're putting me on the spot. 19:26 Sorry. No, I'm not I'm not meaning to put you on the spot. I'm just yeah, if you wanted to expand on any of the perhaps future state ideas, or any big areas of the PCI compliance program, in terms of like benefits or value that can that can bring to our clients. 19:46 Sure. In the PCI compliance program is really interesting. Just because there are a lot of organizations that we work with on a regular basis, who don't have a lot of familiarity with it, and it feels like it's a big scary thing. thing to do now, having gone having taken all of our products through kind of the strictest version of it. I feel like at this point, we have a very good comprehension of what that compliance process looks like. And we have the expertise in house to be able to help our customers do that. And it's in general, just a good benefit for your organization to understand what are the what are the rules? How am I supposed to be handling cardholder data is everything I'm doing. allowed, and am I following the best practice. And so that's what this program is really designed to be able to help organizations with, it takes a lot of that a lot of the complicated regulations and breaks it down into something that's much more digestible. And it guides you through the process. So that you, you were you have much greater assurance that you're following all of the best practices and regulations around how you handle your cardholder data. So to that extent, I think the program is a great value, it's free, it's easy, there's really you, you have nothing to lose by enrolling in that program, once it becomes available. And going through and at least using it as a tool to understand where you stand and make sure that there is nothing that you are doing. That is an improper handling of cardholder data. Now Neon One products have this, these, these rules and guidelines kind of baked into them. But compliance goes beyond just your use of software, it goes into everywhere your organization touches cardholder information, if you're accepting card holder donations through the mail or over the phone, this applies there and and there are rules that you're supposed to be following. So this is just a great way to make sure that you are doing everything you're supposed to be doing. So, you know, I'm very excited about this compliance program. And I'm looking forward to being able to offer this. As far as roadmap items, Canadian processing is great. It allows all of those Canadian organizations to get all the benefits that we have the Neon Pay platform and to get that tighter integration between your CRM, your fundraising systems, your giving day systems, and the Neon Pay platform, which allows us to make those things work together better than what you can get from a third party platform or third party processor. So very excited about that. And being able to upload update cards is something that we've been wanting to be able to offer and we're excited to be able to offer that so being having the the cardholder information automatically update for things like the expirations is just going to provide a more seamless experience for your donors. And it's going to be less work for your staff, you know, having to go chase down a donor to update their card information when they're recurring, you know, when their card has elapsed on it. It's, you know, it's it's a nice benefit to be able to do, I'm excited that we can offer it, I wish we would have been able to have it sooner. But here we are now. Here we are. And we've we're going to be able to have that. So, you know, to me, I'm I'm excited about that. 22:58 Yeah, I think that's a that's a huge one. It's definitely I mean, I've I think we've all been there where it's like, you've gotten the email about, you know, hey, update your your credit card info, or debit card info for XYZ type of like auto debit or something like that. And it's like, Ah, just the painstaking way, I'm like having to run downstairs, grab my debit card, I have to do that manually, I think that's gonna be a really great benefit just for for all of our users, all of our donors, but especially from the admin or back end staff of our Neon One products. 23:34 Yep. And I see we have a question here from Jennifer related to being able to handle credit cards in person via phone or an iPad, instead of using the USB Swiper. Absolutely, this is something that we have been investigating honestly, for a couple of years at this point. And we're looking for the best way to offer this. Part of the reason why it has taken us a little bit longer to do this is because philosophically, Neon One is a data company. And what we do best is trying to be that, that source of truth, that data hub for your organizations. And one of the challenges that we've encountered when we've tried to work with a few different vendors, on offering in person payments through an iPad or a phone, is we've had difficulty finding a really good solution to be able to make sure that when you collect those payments through a phone or an iPad, that we're able to collect more than just the dollar amount and a name, we want to be able to recognize you need to be able to know where that donation came from. Was it for a particular campaign, were there other things that they that the donor wanted to convey as part of that transaction? So with our online forums, we're accustomed to being able to to collect a little bit more information and segment it and with a lot of the solutions that are out there for in person phone and iPad. They just don't offer that or at least it's it is it has been prohibitively complicated to get that working, where they're just limitations like the devices end up being prohibitively expensive. So we are still looking at that we are confident that that's going to be something that we will be able to offer in the future. I'm not going to go so far as to give you an estimated timeline. But it is something that we're absolutely investigating, because we recognize that there are absolutely fascinating use cases for this. We are looking at event registration and ticketing for and for on site events, being able to collect donations, in those cases, we have a lot of membership associations that would love to be able to do things like validate memberships, provide membership discounts for ticketing. And so having all of this data work properly with an onsite payment solution, that's the challenge that we're trying to, we're trying to provide something that is great. And in order to do that, I feel like we have to really tie in more than just a simple terminal, right, we want to we want to approach it from a professor, from the perspective that the data is is very much important in this in this workflow. So that's how we're approaching it. That's how we're thinking about it. That's also why it's taken us a little bit longer to get this to market. But I'm confident that when we do bring it to market, it's going to be something you're really excited about. 26:17 Yeah, thanks for that. Colin. Yeah, that that is something that's super exciting. And it is for like the broader range of of research of identifying and understanding like organizations that are super event driven, versus an organization that like a membership association, and really starting to make sure that that's applicable to all and of course, the integrity of data. And the origin of data is is important and will be important for for any type of like fundraiser or member manager or something like that. 26:53 Yeah, thanks for the question. That's a great question. 27:01 Great. Any any other questions, folks? Looks like we still have Yeah, we've we've kept the attention of the room. So any other other questions? It looks like we do have a few finance folks, of course, in this session. So now's your time to shine. All righty, well, it looks like yeah, we don't have any questions in the q&a. No chat. So folks, please know that this is just like all of our sessions in GX is fully recorded. We'll also be disseminating the slide decks as well, which have valuable information in those. But at any time, if you do have questions, of course, please know that you can always reach out to us and we're we're always open for q&a. And we would love your your feedback on Neon Pay as well as our PCI compliance program and really any of our other product suites as well. Transcribed by https://otter.ai
