Have you been hearing more and more about donor-advised funds (DAFs)? There’s a good reason for that! In 2023, donors used DAFs to give around $52 billion to their favorite organizations.
Around 62% of Neon One users said DAFs are a part of their fundraising efforts. But many of them also said that supporting donors who want to give using DAFs is a challenge.
That changes now! Neon CRM now integrates with DAFpay powered by Neon Pay and Chariot—here’s what that means and how it works.
A Quick Intro to Donor-Advised Funds
A DAF fund is an investment account that someone creates specifically to support different charities. They contribute money or assets to their DAF, which is then managed by a 501(c)(3). The donor receives tax benefits for their contributions when they add them. Once it’s been deposited, that money may only be used to support nonprofits.
Making grants through DAFs is on the rise, and more and more nonprofits are looking for ways to make it easy for people to donate the funds in those accounts.
That’s why we’re so excited about this integration.
How Does the Integration Work?
Donor-advised funds may be increasingly popular, but many donors find it difficult to transfer money from their DAFs to the organizations they want to support. This is a big challenge for nonprofits!
According to Fidelity, the average grant from a DAF in 2023 was $4,625—that’s a pretty significant contribution! But people are less likely to give when the process is difficult, so making this process easy is key for any organization that wants to engage this group of donors.
Chariot’s DAFpay makes it easy for people to support their favorite organizations using their donor-advised funds. And, now that DAFpay integrates with Neon CRM, it’s easier than ever for donors to support their favorite organizations with their DAFs.
Here’s how it works if you want to use this integration:
- When you set up the merchant account for Neon CRM, you’ll enroll in Chariot’s DAFpay and set up your DAFpay account
- You’ll enable DAFpay as a payment method
- When someone decides to give using their fund, they’ll choose the DAFpay option
- They’ll enter their fund’s details and confirm their grant amount
- After they double-check their contact information, they submit the grant
All done! This is a simple, straightforward way to make a grant to your nonprofit—and it’s much simpler than the roundabout granting process associated with most DAFs.
